The project aims to do a systematic review of asymmetric decentralization, which is a concept where the distribution of power and authority between the central government and the area is not even done evenly. Contrary to symmetrical decentralization, which gives all areas equal authority, asymmetrical decentralization recognizes the different needs and conditions of each region, and provides a different level of authority according to social, economic and political conditions. This project will explore various research and theories related to asymmetrical decentralization, to give you a deeper understanding of its implementation, its benefits, and the challenges facing by the countries that implement it.

The background of this project focuses on irregularity and complexity in a non-uniform decentralized decentralization system, which can provide greater flexibility for certain areas, but it also has the potential to cause inequality between areas. Some countries, including Indonesia, have adopted an asymmetrical decentralization policy to accommodate regional diversity, but its impact on government efficiency and regional well-being is still a matter of debate.

The whole point of this project is to identify and analyze literature related to asymmetric decentralization in various contexts, as well as evaluate the excess and flaws of this model. By using a systematic literacy approach, this project aims to give insight into how asymmetrical decentralization can be applied effectively and identify factor- factors that affect its success.

The expected impact of this project is that it provides a strong theoretical basis for decentralization policies in countries that consider an asymmetric model, and it provides a recommendation for a challenge that may arise from the balance of power between central and area. With a deeper analysis, hopefully this project will contribute to the increased quality of government and development of the area.
